117
players (including 13 Juniors) entered from 27 different clubs and
5 different badminton associations. Doubles
and Mixed play took place on Sat. Jan. 17. Changes are required in order to have all matches ‘best of 3 to 15’ in next year’s tournament. We will have to consider capping entry numbers. We’ll also require more court monitors to prevent exessive warm up time. It was often difficult to get players on court in a timely fashion even though a megaphone was used -- perhaps we’ll have to restrict spectators to one area rather than be spread out around the gym’s very large perimeter. Approximately 12 Belleville people participated in organizing and running the tournament, which was assisted by Referee/player David Wong. The canteen was well stocked and lots of pizza was brought in to make sure all the players and workers wouldn't starve. Black Knight was represented by the String Doctor, Glen Crowley, who had his sales and repair stations in support of the tourney. The Harbour Club supplied the polycarbonate safety glasses that were loaned to Juniors.
Glen
Crowley provided the tournament's door prizes at wholesale,
with 9 prizes given out (2 racquets, 4 sports bags and 3 T shirts).

Historical Results of Previous Years' Tournaments
The Belleville Badminton Club together with 8-Wing Trenton held the annual Doug Grant Open Badminton Tournament in Trenton on Fri/Sat Oct24/25.
This year's tournament was designated an Ontario Winter Games pre-selection event -- 25 Juniors participated, hoping to earn points to qualify for a training camp that will produce players for the Winter Games.
This year's tournament was also the first COBA tournament in which wearing of polycarbonate safety glasses is mandatory for Juniors who are not exempted by their parents. 5 juniors received parental exemption. Glasses were available by loan or by purchase.
Approximately 100 players entered from 22 different clubs and 6 different badminton associations, two of which were international (Denmark and Curacao). 64 players were COBA, 18 from ODBA, 13 T&D, 2 GBDA, 2 Curacao and 1 Denmark.
