The Belleville Badminton Club hosted a very successful Doug Grant Tournament this past Friday and Saturday, Oct.12 and 13, 2000. Unfortunately, Ladies Singles did not take place because too few were entered into that category. Instead, in an unusual twist, three ladies were allowed to play in the Men’s Singles, with one lady reaching the D Finals. 67 entrants played a total of 112 ‘best of three games’ matches. 14 Clubs were represented -- Bath, Belleville, Burlington, Harwood (Ajax), Le Club (Kingston), Limestone (Kingston), Mowat (Toronto), Napanee, Peterborough, RA (Ottawa), RMC (Kingston), Trenton, Uxbridge, and Whitby YMCA. One participant was Nathaniel Allard, Canada’s Under 16 Junior Badminton Champion. There were many games of exciting badminton Music World , Goodlife Fitness, and the String Doctor contributed lucky draw prizes.
